I caught up with Tyler, a high school senior from Mason a few weeks ago. Our session happened to fall on a gorgeous autumn day, perfect for spending some time at the park.

The A. Family Portrait Session

The A. Family was my last outdoor family shoot of the season. I couldn't believe it when they volunteered to drive down from Columbus for the photo session! Thanks for traveling all of that way, especially with your little munchkin. What a cutie! She was all smiles when we arrived at Ault Park early on Sunday morning. I think I made a new friend :)

Here are some of my favorites from the session. I had a really hard time deciding what to post; they really turned out great.

What a happy girl! She made my job easy.

The fall is my favorite time of year for photographs...

The grass is still green and the trees are exploding with color. Beautiful.

Baby Colton {Newborn Session}

I was thrilled when one of my former sorority sisters contacted me to do some photos of her newborn son. It had been over 8 years since we had seen each other, and obviously much has changed since our college days! It was great catching up and I loved meeting her husband and beautiful baby boy!

The C. Family Portrait Session

The C. Family met me on a very crisp morning back in October. Although it was chilly, the girls did great and we got some wonderful pictures! This was just one of those sessions where all of the pictures turned out wonderfully; I had such a hard time choosing what to post! Some of my favorites are below.

The G. Family Portraits

I met baby Clara a few months back when I did her newborn photos. (you can see them by clicking HERE - so cute!) Anyway, I was excited when her mom called to schedule Miss Clara for her 3 month-old pictures. She's gotten so big! It's amazing how quickly a baby changes in just a few months time. We met on a beautiful day at the park.

The S. Family

I met the S. Family back in the spring when they contacted me to photograph their family and newborn daughter, Delaney. (you can click HERE to see her little cherub newborn photos! I'm still in love with them.) It's hard to believe that it was 6 months ago already... and now look at the girls! They've changed so much since I saw them back in April.

Kaelyn: One Year Old!

I love when parents ask me to come back again and again to photograph their children at various milestones. It's amazing to see how their little ones grow and change; it happens so quickly! I photographed little Kaelyn back in the summer (you can view her first session here), and since then, she's started walking! As always, she's a beautiful little girl.

This is the dress that she wore on her first birthday! Cute.

She loved running around on the family's deck.

Then we packed up and headed over to the nearby park where Kaelyn ran straight for the swings.

Super Cooper - A Day at the Park

Here are some long overdue pictures of a session I had with the darling Mr. Cooper and his mom. Although this session was nearly 2 months ago, they were just too cute not to post. Enjoy - and thanks again to Cooper and his mommy for a fun afternoon at the park!

We started off the day by chasing each other around the park! (which is easier said than done when you're 9 months pregnant :) ha!)

And then his mommy scooped him up for a quick hug :)

Thank heavens they put in a fence at the playground - 2 year olds are tough to keep up with!

Baby Clara - Newborn Session

I photographed little Clara at just two weeks old, and all I can say is, what a little pumpkin! Newborn sessions are some of my very favorite sessions to do - they're so cute and cuddly! Plus, babies at this age would much rather sleep than watch me dance around like a monkey, trying to get a reaction.

Clara's 1-year old cousin, Ella, came over to join in on the fun too. I hadn't seen her since I did her newborn portraits one year ago, and it was amazing to see how big she had gotten! These two will have lots of fun together when they get a little older.

The K. Family - Candids at Home

My adventures with the K. family continued when I stopped by their home around lunchtime one Friday. I love the pictures that I captured of the kids... comfortable in their house, with their toys, just being themselves. Their mom loves black and white photography (and I do, too!) so I'm posting a few of my favorites from our impromptu session.

The K. Family Portrait Session

The K. Family just might be one of the sweetest families that I know. And lucky for me, this is the second time that I've gotten to photograph their growing family! Since seeing them last year, they have added a beautiful baby girl, Josie, to their family. It was fun to see how much their other two children had grown over the course of a year, too. I keep telling them that I need to take parenting lessons from them, as their kids are some of the nicest and most polite kids you'll ever meet. :) I think that shows through in the photographs below. Enjoy!

The T. Family met me back in July for a portrait session at Sharon Woods. It was starting to get rather hot & muggy that morning, but the entire family were troopers and I think we got some great shots. Their kids were absolutely adorable... prepare yourself for some pigtail and dimple action!

A Labor of Love

I recently took a break from shooting babies & families to do something quite different. Becky's mother is a skilled seamstress and has smocked and hand-embellished a dress each year for every granddaughter in her family. When Becky contacted me, she asked that I photograph the dresses so that her and her sisters could present their mother with a beautiful keepsake for her birthday. I'm so glad that I was able to be part of this project! The dresses are truly pieces of artwork - see for yourself.

The hand stitched detailed work was beautiful.

She had even done a few dainty little baby bonnets... how cute are these?!

Thanks again for inviting me to take part in this special project. I hope that your mom cherishes this birthday present always.

The C. Family

The C. Family contacted me back in May to set up some pictures for their soon-to-be six month old son, Ben. We put a date on the calendar in July, and fortunately, Mother Nature provided us with a gorgeous morning for photographs.

I must say, this mom receives major kudos from me for the creative props that she brought along, ie: a watermelon! Moms: If you have a shoot coming up and are looking for some interesting prop ideas - see below.

This was one of my favorite images from the day - and my sneak peek photo if you've been paying attention!
Prop #1: Ben's dad salvaged this baby rocking chair (it's an antique!) and they had it re-upholistered for Ben's bedroom. How crafty is that?!

It even came with a pillow.

Next, we opted for some classic diaper pictures - with a twist...

(fuzzy blankets taste delightful, btw!)

Prop #2: the tie!

He's quite handsome in formal attire, don't you think? :)

I brought this one along, and Ben seemed quite content inside. Another favorite image from the day!

Baby Quinn

I traveled up to Columbus a few weeks ago to photograph Baby Quinn who had just turned three months old. He was such a sweet little guy - but really just wanted to sleep while I was there! We did manage to get a few shots in between his mini naps though. The family also has two dogs which are also a big part of their lives, so of course I snapped a few shots of them, too. Enjoy!

But it was back inside for an outfit change! ...and a snooze on the countertop.

We picked a beautiful day for photos, and they have a gorgeous backyard. So, we headed back outside for a few more pictures.

They had really wanted some pictures of the family with the dogs...

So we called the dogs over and Quinn got some puppy kisses!

We did our best to position everyone...

And Quinn took the opportunity to snooze a little more with his furry babysitter...

This puppy had no problem posing for the camera. How cute is this?

(it's the dog that you don't see that wasn't as eager to smile for the camera... she couldn't resist playing with her stuffed squirrel!)

So, we made the most of it and settled for a dog-free family portrait!

Right before I left, Quinn woke up from his cat-nap and gave me this...

I knew there was a smile in there somewhere!

Kaelyn: The Happiest Baby EVER

This little girl might just be the happiest baby that I've ever photographed - seriously! She was non-stop smiles from the moment I arrived, until the moment I left. It was fantastic! Here are some of my favorites from the session.

I have gotten to know this family quite well over the past 12 years, as their youngest daughter and I became good friends in college. Life has changed a bit since I was first introduced to them years ago, as there have since been graduations, weddings, plenty of showers and lots babies! The family keeps growing, and fortunately for me, I keep getting asked back to photograph the family. :) It's always a pleasure.

The rain kept us inside, unfortunately. But, we made the most of it and still got the formal shots that they were after.

Baby Matthew - 6 months old

I met Pete and Meghan several years ago when we bowled together in the Cincinnati Sports League's Thursday night league. (winter League Champs 2007 - woot woot!) We've kept in touch over the years and six months ago, they added a new member to their family, Matthew! They were anxious to get some photos of him before his little teeth started coming in.

He has such a cute smile!

From Blue Ash to Hollywood!

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to do some head shots for a local teenager. She'll be competing in a talent show at Walt Disney World in a couple of months where she'll be singing and playing her guitar. She has such a sweet personality and is obviously a very beautiful young woman! Hopefully these attributes combined with her musical talents, make for a winning combination. I hope that you rock it, girl!

At just 4 days old, little Karys was a little sweet pea! I am amazed time and time again by how small newborn babies are. Tiny fingers, tiny little toes... it's such a miracle.

She snoozed for most of the session... let's face it though, she'd had a BIG week!

Will + Kate

My best friend from college had her first baby last November, little Kate. Just a few months later, her sister-in-law (and also a sorority sister of mine - Ya!), had her first baby, Will! Born just months apart, these two little cuties will inevitably have a lot of fun growing up together!

My friend and her husband surprised me in May (they live in Chicago) when they arrived unexpectedly to celebrate my birthday! It was a great weekend, and we were even able to make time for some pictures. Both babies and even the grandparents got in on the fun!

I started the session with Miss Kate. I LOVE her curly little tresses.

And now introducing, Will, her younger cousin!

(he opted to sleep through most of the session)

Being the center of attention is hard work for any 7-week old.

Love this one!

We woke him up while trying to get some naked shots (that didn't quite work out... he clearly prefers clothes and diaper ON...)

So, I hurried to snap a few of the cousins together. Don't they look alike?

Lillian Turns Two - Continued!

If little Lillian looks familiar to you, then great! You've been paying attention to my blog. This was actually the 3rd time that I have photographed her: once as a baby, again at her 1st birthday, and now as a 2 year old! Her parents are personal friends of mine and I feel privileged to have gotten to capture these moments for them as she grows.

We met on a beautiful April day at Ault Park. Lillian was full of energy...

And full of smiles - how cute!

Baby Delaney - Continued!

Just a word of warning before you look at these pictures... they might give you baby fever! At less than a week old, this little cherub was cute enough to eat. Okay, maybe not eat... but you get the idea! Miss Delaney, you stole my heart :)

When I arrived, this little peanut was bright-eyed and wide awake! Hi there, munchkin.

But never fear, mom knew what to do! She waved her mommy wand and little Delaney drifted peacefully to sleep.

At which point, dress-up time began! Don't you love how maneuverable a newborn is when they're sleeping?

She's just ridiculously adorable. Look at those little wrinkles!

I'm excited to be the photographer for the upcoming Run for Shelter event, being held this Saturday, 4/16! The event benefits Transitions Global, an international non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the lives of girls who have been victims of sex trafficking.

Look what I found in my backyard tonight! Call it spring fever, but I was so excited that I just had to run and grab my camera. We planted this ground covering last year, but I had no idea that it bloomed! Too bad the forecast is calling for snow next week.... boo. Hopefully these hearty little guys survive.

Baby Jacob

I am pleased to introduce 6-month old Jacob to all of my blog readers. This little guy was very interested in my camera during our meeting... in fact, he was looking at the camera in about 85% of all of the pictures! When I got home to do my editing, I was amazed! Perhaps he's destined to be a model in the future... he sure is cute enough! And his big blue eyes - wow!! Mom & Dad could be in trouble when he hits his teenage years. :)

Alaina - 6 months old!

This was the second time that I had the privilege to photograph little Alaina. I first photographed her when she was just 3 months old, and was recently invited back for some 6-month old pictures. She's gotten a lot bigger since then and is definitely starting to find her voice! She's such a sweet, laid-back baby! We started the session at her house on New Years Eve day.

She has amazing blue eyes. No photoshop'ing done here, folks! Those are the real deal.

It was also her mom's birthday! Birthday kisses for mommy.

Strangely, it was nearly 65 degrees on the day of our shoot... December 31st! So, we stepped outside for a few.

I just love these next two...

Next stop: The Krohn Conservatory. I've blogged about it before here. They always put together an amazing poinsettia tree every year for the holidays. It makes a great backdrop!

And finally our last stop of the day: Eden Park. What a pleasant surprise for December - photos at the park!

NYC and the Macy's Day Parade

Happy 2011 to all of my blog readers! The holidays are finally over, and I feel like I'm just beginning to catch my breath. Not only did we celebrate Christmas in our household, there were also six, I repeat, SIX birthdays to celebrate in my family in the months of December and January. I love all of the parties and birthday cake, but my waistline certainly has a differing opinion. Anyway, my point in telling you all of this, is that I have been extremely BUSY! Throw in a week's vacation in Mexico, some holiday house guests and a peppering of family photo shoots & photo booth events, and these past 6 weeks have been absurdly crazy. And don't get me started on the fact that our house is for sale or my full-time day job!

I've been wanting to post these pictures for some time, so you'll have to excuse their tardiness. I've had a few other things going on lately :) My family traveled to NYC for Thanksgiving in 2010, not because we had family there to visit, but rather to see the Macy's Day Parade! It had been a dream of my mom's since she was a kid, so we decided to make it a reality this year. It turned out to be an amazing trip full of delicious food, lots of laughter, and more subway rides than I care to remember. We vowed to do it again someday... but maybe next time in warmer weather!

I won't bore you with lots of family photos, but here are a few shots from the trip. I'll start with the Macy's Day Parade. You can't really appreciate the size of the balloons until you're actually there. They. are. massive.

A sweet moment I captured of my in-laws. I framed it for them for Christmas!

As the one behind the camera, I rarely find myself in any pictures anymore. So, thank you to my dad for wrestling the camera out of my hands for a few pictures. That's my hubby and I in Central Park. I love this one. {sigh}

I recently assisted Sara Streit (click on her name to be linked to her site) with a wedding in Walton, Kentucky. It was an absolutely beautiful day for a wedding, but gheesh... it was COLD! The bridal party were troopers however (especially the girls in their strapless dresses - eek!) and everyone gladly toughed it out for some gorgeous outdoor photos. I love that I was able to help capture the first moments of this couple's life together! Thanks so much for the opportunity, Sara. Here are just a few of my pictures from the day.

The Kirk Family

Liz's Baby Shower

One of my very best friends, Liz, is expecting! Her little nugget is scheduled to arrive right around Christmas, so it should be a holiday to remember. Here are a few of the shots I took at her baby shower a few weeks ago. I can't wait to meet your little girl!!

Baby Ella

I love photographing newborns. I am continually shocked and amazed by how LITTLE they are! This little girl was no exception. At just two weeks old, little Ella was just a teeny peanut. And what was even more amazing, she was that she was AWAKE for the entire session! I guess the little nugget just didn't want to miss a thing. I really enjoyed my morning session with her and her proud mommy and daddy! You are all so sweet.

Alena + Phil's Wedding Reception

On the weekend following their private ceremony, Alena and Phil hosted nearly 200 people at a lovely outdoor wedding reception. Mother Nature surprised us all with a chilly afternoon in the mid-50's (Brrr!), but guests certainly didn't seem to mind. The cold weather forced everyone to stand a little closer, hug a little longer, and certainly didn't affect the warmth and love that guests showered on this special couple.

The celebration included countless personal touches, combining Alena's Italian heritage with Phil's Chinese background. Phil, who is an Executive Chef, even prepared a fusion of Italian and Chinese dishes for dinner. It was de.lic.ous.

There were cute little details everywhere you looked...

All of these treats were handmade by Alena & Phil's families. I have about a dozen pictures of different desserts, but I'll only post these three or you might get hungry.

Alena + Phil's Wedding Ceremony

I can't describe how excited I was when my friend Alena asked me to photograph her wedding. However, never having shot a wedding before, I didn't quite know what to expect. To prepare, I made detailed lists, bought some new equipment (70-200, 2.8: nothing short of amazing!) and spent countless hours studying other photogs' work. On the day of their outdoor wedding, mother nature cooperated and gave us beautiful sunshine and 60+ degree weather. The ceremony was beautiful, and I love that I was able to capture it for them.

Phil and Alena planned a very private, outdoor ceremony at their home in Hamilton. The rolling hills, pond and trees in their backyard made a beautiful backdrop as this couple recited their self-written vows. The morning clouds parted to give way for warm sunshine and an afternoon full of laughter, hugs, family and friends.

This mantilla made me want to get married again. Gorgeous.

This pendant was worn by Alena's mother and grandmother on their wedding days.

The Allman Family

You can imagine my delight when an old sorority sister, who I haven't seen in over 7 years, called to see if I could take some family pictures. I think we may have spent more time talking than taking pictures during the session, but it was so great catching up! And fortunately, I think we got some really cute shots, too. Jack is Back!

During my first session with this little adventurer a few weeks ago, Jack took a tumble down some stairs and scraped up his nose. {my first injury during a photo shoot! eek!} So, we called it a day and decided to reschedule for Round 2. So, here are a few of my favorite shots from the second session. And, I'm happy to report that this shoot went much better than the first... no bloodshed or tears!

Baby Jack - Continued!

I met Nick, Megan, and their little boy, Jack, last weekend at my new favorite spot in Sharon Woods. Their little guy is a total cutie, and has grown up so much since I last saw him last! He has the arm of a major-leaguer and even wanted to discuss cars with me. Mid-shoot, he took a tumble down some stairs... which, unfortunately, kind of wrapped up our morning together. :) Fortunately he was okay {just some elephant tears and a few scrapes}, so we'll definitely get together soon for a few more shots. I love how these turned out though!

Sneak Preview: Jack!

So maybe our shoot didn't go quite as planned last weekend... {there was some minor bloodshed and tears!} BUT, we did manage to get some really great pictures prior to Jack taking a tumble. A Day at the Beach

What better way to practice 'lifestyle photography' than with your family! They're accustomed to seeing a camera in my hands, because let's face it, I rarely leave home without one. {My motto is that you never know what might pop up, and when it does, I'll be ready!} I snapped these candid shots while visiting our family in Florida.

Mackenzie was at first terrified of the ocean waves, but ended the day by pleading to swim by herself. Ehh, don't think so kiddo! Those waves were pretty big.

A Party Fit for a Princess

My niece, Mackenzie, turned three years old in August. In honor of this momentous occasion, we traveled to Florida to celebrate with this fabulous little girl! Complete with a clown, magic show and pony rides, I'd have to think that it was a three-year-old's dream come true. Happy birthday, Kenz!

We woke up to thunder, lightning, and torrential rains that morning! But, Mackenzie didn't seem to mind. In fact, she went out and twirled on the patio.

So, in the meantime, I figured that I would give you some "eye candy" to hold you over. These decadent treats, shot at a friend's recent baby shower, are from The BonBonerie, a fantastic little bakery and cafe located in Cincinnati. They were de-lic-ous!

If this little guy looks familiar to you, then great! You've been paying close attention to my blog. I've taken pictures of him twice before: once as a newborn, and again when he was 3 months old. And now that he's 9 months old, I'm realizing how quickly he has changed in such a short period of time.

For this shoot, his parents (who are wonderful friends of mine!) and I first went out to lunch, and then wandered over to a nearby park. As usual, Charlie was so good-natured and smiled for my camera like a pro. He's getting good at this. :)

This was my very first shot of the day. And I love it because he looks so chill here.

My husband has a huge family. And when I say big, I mean big. There were 40+ people at our reunion last week... and that was just the first cousins! So, get ready for some gold old fashioned family fun. For a photographer, lots of people = lots of pictures! More coming soon.

The big news was that Max lost his two front teeth during the course of the week! As you can imagine, the tooth fairy was a very busy girl. (just one tooth missing in this photo though...)
